Install the Windows Player

Our Windows installer includes both Server and Player. Just download the Windows Server software here and install it on your netbook. You do not have to configure the audio card on the netbook.

Install the Linux Player with .deb .rpm and .sh installers

Installation with .deb

You install the Linux Player on Ubuntu or any other Debian type Linux distribution with a .deb installation package. 

 

Download the latest .deb file here  onto your Linux Desktop and double click it.

 

 

You will be asked to enter your password. This is the password you created when you installed Linux.

 

 

The .deb package will now be displayed

 

 

Press "Install Package"

 

 

Once installed you will see the .deb package will display

 

 

Just close the package with the Exit key.

 

That's it StreamMyGame Linux Player is installed.

 

 

Installation with .rpm

 

To install the Linux Player on Fedora or any other Red Hat type Linux distribution use the .rpm installation package. 

 

Download the latest .rpm file here  onto your Linux Desktop and double click it.

 

You will be asked to enter your password. This is the password you created when you installed Linux.

 

The .rpm package will now be displayed

 

Press "Install Package"

 

Once installed you will see the .deb package will display

 

Just close the package with the Exit key.

 

That's it StreamMyGame Linux Player is installed.

 

 

Installation with .sh script

 

If for any reason the .deb or .rpm files do not install, you can also install the StreamMyGame Linux Player with a script file.

 

Open a Terminal on your Linux PC.
You must go to the directory where you downloaded the file by typing into the Terminal for example;


cd /home/your_username/your_directory


When the Terminal shows you are in the directory, execute the installer by typing in the Terminal
     

sudo sh ./smg-installer.sh

 

Read the README carefully especially about configuring the firewall (see note below)

 

Use the arrows keys to scroll the page, now press q to quit the README.

 

After the installer finishes you need to associate the Streamer Player with the files on our website by opening a Terminal and typing;    smg-protocol-setup

 

 

Testing the Player on Linux

 

If you are concerned that the player did not install correctly or that your hardware may not be compatible you can see if it plays one of our files.

 

Download any MP4 file from here onto your Linux PC or device. 

To play the file type in the Linux Terminal window 

smg-linux-player the_correct_directory/name_of_your_file.mp4

for example

smg-linux-player /home/richard/Desktop/bioshock_1024.mp4 

If the MP4 file plays in our player, then the computers hardware is compatible.
