How to install our software





















Instal Streamer Server on a PC running Windows XP, MCE or Vista

Setting Up

Video Setup


Streamer automatically detects your graphics card. 

Any DirectX 9 graphics card will work with Streamer but we recommend gaming graphics card.

The more powerful your card the higher the resolution you can record, broadcast or stream. 


Audio Setup

Audio device needs to be set up correctly. 

To check your PCs audio capabilities right click the speaker icon

Select Recording

Select "What U Hear" or "Record Mix"


An example using Realtek

Right click "Speaker" icon in System Tray

Select "Stereo Mix"


An example using a Creative X-Fi Audio card on Windows XP

Right click speaker icon in System Tray

Select Recording

This will display the Recording Options box and you need to select the "What U Hear" option.


An example using a Creative X-Fi Audio card on Vista

Select "Control Panel" then "Sound" then "Recording" then "What U Hear" then press "Set Default"


An example using a cable

Connect "Headphones" to "Microphone" with a cable


Install the Server

 

Download StreamMyGame Software from here and install it.



Enter details and create your own Server Password.



Enter your StreamMyGame Website login Username and Password

The Computer Name is by default is the name of your computer. You can change this if you wish. 

You need to create your own Streamer Password. 

To access Streamer Server right click the StreamMyGame icon in the System Tray.


Check Installation

Go to www.StreamMyGame.com and Login.

Go to your Settings page

Under the section "Select preferred audio device" it should display your recording input

Configure the Windows Firewall

The StreamMyGame Security Server (SMGSS) uses authentication, encryption and network security methods including SSL to ensure that your computer and network is never exposed.


Once the session is complete, the Stream is disconnected and cannot be re-established without authentication from the SMGSS.

To enable the Streamer Server and the Streamer Player to talk to the SMGSS the firewall built into Windows XP and Vista needs to be checked and in some cases adjusted.


The Windows Firewall

The Windows Firewall has three options, On, Off and On with "Don't allow exceptions" selected. 

You should never leave your Firewall Off. 

You can view your firewall settings by press "Start" then "Control Panel" then "Windows Firewall".

If your firewall should look like this

When you start the Streamer Server and login, Windows will display the following message

You must select the Unblock button

You should Unblock the Streamer Player.

Open your Firewall in "Control Panel"

Press "Exceptions" 

If your firewall is set to On "Don't allow exceptions" you CANNOT stream games.

You should now install your Player.

Installing AC3 decoder

The AC3 decoder enables you to use compressed audio with StreamMyGame which reduces the bandwidth required to stream games. The correct version of AC3 is version 1.11 and is it can be downloaded here .

Install Linux Player on a PC, Laptop,UMPC, MID or mobile device running Linux

You can install the Linux Player by using a .deb, .rpm or .sh installer.

Installation with .deb

You install the Linux Player on Ubuntu or any other Debian type Linux distribution 

Download the latest .deb file here onto your Linux Desktop and double click it.

You will be asked to enter your password. 

This is the password you created when you installed Linux.

The .deb package will now be displayed

Press "Install Package"

Press "Exit" to close the Package Installer.

Now Add a Game here.




Installation with .rpm

For use with Fedora or any other Red Hat type Linux distribution.

Download the latest .rpm file here onto your Linux Desktop and double click it.

You will be asked to enter your password. 

This is the password you created when you installed Linux.

The .rpm package will now be displayed

Press "Install Package"

Once installed you will see the .rpm package display.

Just close the package with the Exit key.

Now Add a Game here.




Installation with .sh script

If for any reason the .deb or .rpm files do not install, you can also install the StreamMyGame Linux Player with a script file.

Download the latest .sh file here  onto your Linux Desktop.

Open a Terminal on your Linux PC. You must go to the directory where you downloaded the file by typing into the Terminal for example;

cd /home/your_username/your_directory

When the Terminal shows you are in the directory, execute the installer by typing in the Terminal     

sudo sh ./smg-installer.sh

 

If you cant install using the sudo command it means you are not in the sudo file.

Type the following to install the player

su
<the root password>
sh ./smg-installer.sh
exit

Read the README carefully

Use the arrows keys to scroll the page, now press Q to quit the README.

The player will now install and will display all the resources it needs to run.

Make sure that everything has been found and if something is missing use Synaptic Package manager or similar to download it and install it.

After the installer finishes you need to associate in Firefox the Streamer Player with the files on our website by opening a Terminal and typing;
smg-protocol-setup

If for any reason Firefox does not associate the files you can associate them manually by following the instructions here.

Now Add a Game here.



Testing the Player

If you are concerned that the player did not install correctly or that your hardware may not be compatible you can see if it plays one of our files.

Download any MP4 file from here onto your Linux PC or device. 

To play the file type in the Linux Terminal window 

smg-linux-player the_correct_directory/name_of_your_file.mp4

for example

smg-linux-player /home/richard/Desktop/bioshock_1024.mp4 

If the MP4 file plays in our player, then the computers hardware is compatible.

Install a Linux Player on an EeePC or EBox running Xandros Linux

The EeePC and Ebox is sold with either ASUS's own operating system (which is based on Xandros Linux) or with Windows XP installed.

If you have Windows XP installed follow the installation instructions here.

BEFORE you install our EeePC Linux Player you should make sure you EeePC is completely up to date with the latest updates and security patches from ASUS.


Installation

Open a Browser on your EeePC or EBox.

Download the latest .deb file here.

Select "Save to Disk"

Choose the File Manager

The downloaded file will be in "My Documents".

Right click the file and select "Install DEB File..."

The EeePC or EBox will ask for your password.

This is the password you created when you ran Linux for the first time.

The install will finish with a dialog telling you of success.

The Xandros player is now installed. 

Now Add a Game here.


Testing the Player

If you are concerned that the player did not install correctly or that your hardware may not be compatible you can see if it plays one of our files.

Download any MP4 file from here onto your Linux PC or device. 

To play the file type in the Linux Terminal window 

smg-linux-player the_correct_directory/name_of_your_file.mp4

for example

smg-linux-player /home/richard/Desktop/bioshock_1024.mp4 

If the MP4 file plays in our player, then the computers hardware is compatible.

Install PS3 Player on a PlayStation 3 running Yellow Dog Linux (YDL)

Download the latest PlayStation_SIXAXIS_YDL_XXX.zip file here onto your YDL Desktop

INSTRUCTION

Open PlayStation_SIXAXIS_YDL_XXX.zip by double clicking it.

First double click the file bluez-utils-3.7-4.ydl.1.smg.ppc.rpm

This file will configure your Bluetooth settings so you can use your SIXAXIS wirelessly.

You will be asked to enter your Linux root password. 

This is the password you created when you installed YDL.

Enter your password and press OK

The .rpm installer will open

Press "Apply" and the SIXAXIS Bluetooth utility will be installed.

Double click the file smg-linux-player-1.0.1.XX-X.ppc.rpm.

This file will install our new PS3 Streamer Player.

You will be asked to enter your Linux root password. 

This is the password you created when you installed YDL.

Depending on your YDL setup you may see the following

Press "Install anyway"

The PS3 Streamer Player and Bluetooth pairing tool are now installed.

Enable and configure SIXAXIS via Bluetooth wireless

When you first run our PS3 Player for the first time you will see an option to "Enable SIXAXIS Bluetooth"

Unplug your SIXAXIS

Press "Enable SIXAXIS Bluetooth"

Press your "PS" button on your SIXAXIS

Follow the instructions and your SIXAXIS will work via Bluetooth wireless.

Now press "Configure SIXAXIS Joypad"

Configure your SIXAXIS

Now Add a Game here.
